PHPM-50™Pothole Patch
Stop throwing away bags of cheap cold patch. PHPM-50™ is a commercial-grade, hydro-reactive pothole repair polymer that cures permanently, even when poured directly into standing water. Engineered for extreme Texas temperature swings, it expands and contracts without fracturing.
Industrial Performance
Engineered exclusively for commercial property managers, municipalities, and paving contractors who cannot afford to patch the same pothole twice.
Hydro-Reactive Catalyst
You no longer need a dry hole. PHPM-50 contains proprietary water-displacing polymers. You can literally pour the patch directly into a pothole filled with standing water during a thunderstorm. The patch aggressively displaces the moisture and adheres permanently to the failing asphalt.
Thermal Expansion Tolerance
Standard cold patches harden, turn brittle, and shatter under San Antonio's extreme summer heat. PHPM-50 is engineered with highly pliable elastomers that allow the patch to flex, expand, and contract with the surrounding pavement without breaking its structural bond.
Zero Setup Downtime
Once the material is poured and tamped down, it is immediately ready for heavy vehicular traffic. You do not need to block off lanes, wait for curing, or worry about tracking. An 18-wheeler can roll over the patch 30 seconds after installation without causing rutting.
Guaranteed Permanence
This is not a temporary winter fix. When properly compacted, PHPM-50 becomes highly dense and permanently fuses to the host material. In many cases, the patch outlasts the surrounding asphalt itself, eliminating the need to repeatedly dispatch maintenance crews to the same crater.
Zero-Prep Deployment
PHPM-50 is designed for high-velocity maintenance crews. No saws, no tack coats, no heating kettles. Just peel and pour.
Debris Removal
Sweep out large, loose chunks of asphalt or debris from the pothole. Unlike hot-mix repairs, you do not need to meticulously dry the hole, route the edges, or apply a tack-coat primer.
Direct Application
Pour PHPM-50 directly from the bag into the void. If the hole is full of standing water, pour the polymer directly into the water. The heavier-than-water hydro-reactive formula will instantly displace the moisture and sink to the base.
Overfill & Tamp
Fill the hole approximately half an inch above the surrounding pavement grade. Using a hand tamper, skid-steer tire, or vibratory plate, forcefully compact the material downward until it is flush.
Immediate Traffic
The compaction triggers the final binding sequence. You can instantly remove safety cones and open the lane. Heavy vehicular traffic actually compresses the patch further, increasing its permanent density.
Product Questions
01.How is this different from bagged cold patch at the hardware store?
Hardware store 'cold patch' is essentially loose aggregate coated in cutback asphalt. It relies on solvent evaporation to 'cure'—a process that takes weeks and remains soft in the sun. PHPM-50 is a reactive polymer binder. It physically cures under compaction pressure, achieving instantaneous structural rigidity.
02.Can I really patch a pothole filled with water?
Yes. Our hydro-reactive formula is heavier than water and contains hydrophobic displacement agents. When poured into standing water, it sinks to the bottom, forces the water up and out of the void, and adheres directly to the submerged asphalt.
03.Will the patch be dislodged by snowplows or heavy trucks?
No. Because PHPM-50 is highly ductile, it moves with the surrounding pavement rather than shattering. Unlike rigid concrete patches or brittle cold mixes, its elastomeric bond absorbs the kinetic impact of 18-wheelers, making it virtually impervious to roll-out or plow shearing.
04.How much material do I need?
A standard 50lb bag of PHPM-50 will cover approximately a 5-square-foot area at a 1-inch depth. Because of its extreme density, we recommend purchasing by the pallet (56 bags) for commercial property management or municipal street repair fleets.
Municipal Approved
Crownwood Chemicals supplies bulk pallets of PHPM-50 to public works departments across Texas. Its ability to be deployed in freezing rain or blistering heat makes it the premier choice for rapid-response emergency pothole mitigation on high-speed arterial roads.
